Arizona: Dixie Ellis Lower Antelope Canyon Tours
Antelope Canyon had been on my list for YEARS. So when I finally decided to throw together an Arizona road trip itinerary, I knew I couldn’t pass it up. After researching for a couple weeks, I decided to go with Dixie Ellis for the tour. Check out below for what I thought!
TOUR
Obviously the most important part of any adventure is the actual experience right? I was nervous about Antelope Canyon because I saw so many reviews with people saying they felt like cattle being herded through a small hallway. HOWEVER, this was NOT my experience! I went during off-season which I HIGHLY recommend for nearly any adventure. We were able to take our time, take as many photos as we needed and our guide was phenomenal about helping with camera settings, pointing out unique waves in the canyon wall, and letting us know when a photo op might be coming up. I left a raving 5-star review on Google for Dixie Ellis and I could not have had a better experience!
PRICE
I’m fairly certain prices are lower during off-season. We paid just over $50 per person for the tour which lasted just over an hour. We received water at the end of the tour, but that’s all that came with admission.
DIFFICULTY
My dad is in his early 60’s and has had both hips replaced and had no problem navigating the ladders and stairs on the way to the bottom of the canyon. However, I would say he’s in really good shape for his age as well as a former athlete (former? I meant, still an athlete). All jokes aside, the most difficult part of this tour is getting to the bottom of the canyon. It involves very, very steep sets of stairs, ladders, and at some points you have to turn sideways or go down backwards. Once you’re on the canyon floor, it’s nothing more than a beautiful walking tour!
NOTES
You can bring cell phones and cameras into the canyon but no bottles, bags, strollers, etc. This was never an issue for us but it might be for you, so just be aware.
WORTH IT?
10/10 would recommend. 10/10 would do again. 10/10 blew my socks off. Does that help?
What else would you like to know about this adventure?! Leave a note in the comments and I’ll add it to the page!
