Salzburg is not a terribly big city and thus does not provide a wide range of options when it comes to hostels. However, Yoho definitely surpassed my expectations! The page on Hostelworld.com where I found it definitely undersold this hostel. Keep reading to find out why!

BEDS

The bunks here are very sturdy, comfortable and plenty big enough! I stayed in a mixed 6-person dorm and had plenty of space. The one downside is that there are only outlets near the bottom bunk, so unless you have a very long cord, I wouldn't plan on charging your phone at night. There is however a night light on each bed!

STORAGE

The storage here is operated by the same key card that is used to get you into your room so you don’t need to worry about bringing your own locks. There’s plenty of room in each cubby for a suitcase or even my giant 60L backpack!

BATHROOMS

Okay, so there are pros and cons to the bathroom situation at Yoho. The pros: there are male only and female only shower facilities. The cons: The male or female only facilities might not be on your floor. There’s also a mixed facility on the top floor. All of the bathrooms are mixed as well with women using the first two stalls and guys using the second two stalls with a door separating the two. I will say that the facilities were all very clean! As for the showers themselves, they had good pressure, hot water, and a place to set stuff in each little individual shower area.

BAR

The bar was smaller than some other hostels I’ve been at, but definitely a cozy feel! There’s a separate room as well with additional seating to eat, grab a drink, and hang out. The bar does provide some food and a great atmosphere! I met some awesome people here who I spent a couple days with wandering around Salzburg with! I even met a girl from Budapest who would later give me a tour of Budapest!

NOTES

The Hostelworld.com page for Yoho definitely undersells this place. This is as good or better than a lot of hostels I’ve stayed at. One thing that’s unique is that every night at 8pm, they have a showing of “The Sound of Music” since the movie takes place in Salzburg! This is just one of those things that is a MUST since you’re already there, especially if you plan on taking the Sound of Music tour.

The workers here were all super helpful as well when it came to getting around town, getting to Hallstatt, and getting back to Vienna. The location is within walking distance of the train station (10 min), the castle across the river, pubs, and plazas to eat!

VALUE

When I booked this hostel through Hostelworld.com, I was worried that I’d paid too much for a crummy place. But I couldn’t have been more wrong! For $22 a night, it blew my expectations away! I have some incredible memories from late nights at the bar with people I grew to love and genuinely hope I find myself in Salzburg again to stay with Yoho again.

What else would you like to know about this hostel?! Leave a note in the comments and I’ll add it to the page!
