I had stayed in several Selina hostels in Costa Rica and new their reputation. But for just $8.50 per night, could it really be up to the same standards as the other ones I loved? Scroll down to find out!

BEDS

As always, the beds can make or break a stay at a hostel and with Selina Candelaria, you can rest assured that these beds are phenomenal. Great mattresses and sheets, good size, quiet bunks (this is always big time); everything you need for a great night of sleep!

BAR

There is a bar here right in the main lobby and it’s super cool. The decorations, music, and vibe is awesome and really chill. There’s really not a bar scene but you can always find a few people hanging out working, eating, or grabbing a cappuccino. There’s also a nice little cafe next to the lobby that is a great area to sit and work.

BATHROOMS

The bathrooms here are among the cleanest and nicest that I’ve stayed in for hostels! They are really well taken care of and actually look very nice as well! But here’s the kicker… Selina Candelaria has, hands down, the best showers of any hostel (or hotel, or house…) I’ve ever stayed at! The pressure, the heat, the overhead rainfall shower head, it’s absolutely incredible. A great way to start or end your day!

STORAGE

My dorm had storage lockers but they weren’t large enough for my suitcase. I was able to lock my backpack and camera in the locker if I left or during the night which was nice. Come prepared with a small lock for the locker as well as one for your suitcase if you want to be cautious.

NOTES

There’s no pool here, but there are plenty of areas to hang out and meet people which I love. They also have a ton of activities going on: Gringo Tuesday (party bus and dancing club), karaoke, salsa lessons, etc. I highly encourage you to take part in one of these. There are also free walking tours or graffiti tours going on every day!

VALUE

For only $8.50 USD per night, I have to say this is by far the best valued hostel I’ve stayed at thus far without a doubt! If you’re ever in Bogotá, this is 100% the place to stay!

What else would you like to know about this hostel?! Leave a note in the comments and I’ll add it to the page!
