I booked this hostel about 30 minutes before I walked through the doors since I was only going to be in Budapest for one night. After a quick search on Hostelworld.com and Hotels.com, it seemed like this was my best bet. Scroll down to see if I was right!

BEDS

The beds are always a big deal to me because if the hostel has nothing else, at least I can count on a comfortable night’s sleep. And the last thing I want as a giant human is to be all scrunched up just trying to fit on the bed. Well, The Hive has the perfect bed to end your day trekking around Budapest. Big, comfortable, and semi-secluded, it was all I could want at the end of the day.

STORAGE

The storage situation is perfect. Each bed has an associated cubby that is only opened with your personal keycard, which is also used to get into your dorm. I fit my 60L backpack into the cubby with no problem and probably could have fit my normal backpack in there on top of it should I have chosen to do so. I love storage options that have built in security!

BAR

Since I was only in Budapest for one night, I didn’t bother going to the rooftop bar. But there were definitely some lively individuals up there that night. I stayed at The Hive on a Monday night, but I’m sure it is the place to be on the weekend!

BATHROOMS

The bathrooms in the dorms are for individual use only which is convenient. They are some of the bigger and cleaner bathrooms that I’ve stayed at with a hostel. The shower was hot and the pressure was great; two key ingredients to a great hostel!

NOTES

The hostel is located in a pretty happening part of Budapest (as told to me by a Hungarian friend I met in Austria). There are lots of bars with any type of food you could want. One local place I’d HIGHLY recommend is Papa Langos. It’s only about a 10-15 minute walk and serves a Hungarian dish called Langos that is delish!

VALUE

I booked this hotel 30 minutes before I arrived on a Monday night and paid €6, or about $6.50 USD. For that price I could have slept in a cardboard box with a pillow and considered it a good value. With all of the security, cleanliness, weekend party-vibes, and dorm room amenities, this is absolutely the place to stay in Budapest!
