Would you dare to step into The Space Hut Time Machine?!

When I stumbled across this place on Airbnb, I knew immediately that I had to make it happen. I mean, how often do you get to stay in a Space Hut Time Machine!? Scroll down to see what the experience was like!

BED

The bed was big enough for my giant body, but just barley. It’s lofted with a few steps leading up to it for easy access. The mattress is probably aged a bit and could be upgraded but nonetheless provided a great night of sleep! This is definitely a 1-person only type of place. Just be aware of that when booking! There is a portable heater located inside that works great on a chilly night! I actually turned it up a touch too high and was sweating within an hour!

STORAGE

The bed is lofted so there is plenty of space to store luggage or backpacks on the ground. Since you will (likely) be the only person staying here, there shouldn’t be any issue for storage space. The hut comes with a key both to the hut and the gate to the property. I never felt concerned about the safety of my stuff.

BATHROOM

The bathroom could use some adjustments. While I was able to get everything out of it that I needed too, it wasn’t always easy. It’s a short walk (maybe 20m) from the hut and has no sink. The light is motion activated and stays on for maybe a minute. I couldn’t figure out where to walk to activate the sensor so I ended up showering in the dark at 4:30am (headed to Sedona for sunrise!). The shower did get hot but it was a little inconvenient to shower in the dark.

NOTES

The property is actually pretty incredible. I think it’s just a backyard and there may be other Airbnb spots located in the yard but I’m not 100% sure. There’s an old bus that’s been spray painted, old art lining a walkway, several old planes that have been placed around the property, lights strung up to guide the walkway, and obviously the Space Hut Time Machine!

You will need to park on the street. Driving through the neighborhood, it looked a touch sketchy so I wouldn’t leave valuable in your car and make sure it’s locked. I never saw the owner but that didn’t have any bearing on my stay. There’s a lock box to the property with a code you receive the day before your stay.

VALUE

Is this really a question for a SPACE HUT TIME MACHINE?! The answer is no. For as little as $58 a night (after fees, don't get me started on those), you can stay at one of the most unique places Phoenix has to offer!
