Beds

For being in the middle of Africa, the beds were fine. Relative to other hostels, they weren’t so great. But I had just finished a wicked travel itinerary, so anything softer than a bench at the airport felt amazing. The bed was a touch small but worked fine. I stayed in a 3-person room and there was very little space to move around.

Bathroom

The bathroom and shower were in separate rooms outside of the dorm rooms. They worked fine. Pretty average as far as hostels go. Not a whole lot to talk about here.

Bar

There’s a kitchen area that you can use if you bring your own food and it seemed like that’s what most of the guests did. There is a “bar” area, which is less like a bar and more like a concession stand. There is food they can make you but you have to order way ahead of time and it closes really early (like 5pm or 6pm). If you order dinner, they will make it for you and then you have to put it in the fridge until you want to eat it, then warm it up in the microwave in the kitchen.

Storage

No storage at all in the rooms so definitely bring locks for your things. If you have a lot of luggage, good luck fitting it all in the room.

Notes

As negative as this review sounds, it’s not. It’s just not the best hostel I’ve stayed at. I actually loved the vibes and I got to spend a lot of time by myself just relaxing, which was just what I needed at the time. There is Wifi that is just a hotspot and located only around the kitchen/bar area and it’s not terribly strong, so keep that in mind. I would absolutely stay here again if I’m in Victoria Falls, but you just need to know what to expect.

Value

For $15, I’ll sleep just about anywhere. But in the middle of Africa, next to a pool, at a place that will arrange $5 rides for you? Sign me up. The staff was super friendly and helpful as well, so all in all a positive experience!
